Loo with a view - MS Albatros

MS Albatros ties up in Townsville

Cruise Ship MS Albatros sailed into Townsville Saturday 18th February. The MS Albatros was built for long distance cruising and is one of the small sized ships that operates once a year on an around the world itinerary. She is currently on a 60 night, 61-day leg from Sydney, Australia to Genoa, Italy.

Fantome Island - A step back in time

Stepping off the tender into the warm tropical waters and walking up the picturesque white, sandy beach through the trees I was not expecting what I saw next. An expansive field of white sand and concrete slabs are all that remains of the basic fibrolite huts built to house an indigenous leper colony that closed its doors for the final time in 1973.

The night lightning struck - Breakwater Marina

We woke at 4am this morning to a powerful crack, followed by rumbling thunder! Lightning was lighting up the sky at the marina. A petrified dog and scared child scrambled into our bed (I do miss our super-king bed at times like these!) Sleep wasn't coming anytime soon, so we got up and watched natures powerful show.

Loo with a view - Townsville Breakwater Marina by day

I was sitting in our bathroom looking out the window and thought to myself how lucky are we to have such a beautiful view from the loo! Not only do we have a beautiful view but it is forever changing depending on where we are moored or anchored.

I wanted to share these beautiful views with you.  I will be posting a view from our loo every Sunday.  Do you have a beautiful view from your loo?

Seas the day!

Too Easy living the dream

Ever wondered if dreams really do come true?  Well they have for my husband Warwick McLeod.

For several years Warwick had dreamed of ditching suburbia for a life on the water. July 2016, we moved onto our newly purchased 42ft motor boat Too Easy, with three kids and one dog in tow.  Downsizing from a four bedroom, two bath room house to a boat was a challenge, but we had a light bulb moment! We had too much stuff!  We didn’t need more space, just less stuff.

Dream believer

It was 2012 and apart from a few holidays to Australia I had been living in my coastal hometown Whangarei, New Zealand for 38 years.

Then a defining moment in my life, April 2012 I was blessed to visit my parents who were living in Split, Croatia at the time.  WOW is an understatement.  This new land I had ended up in by sheer opportunity was mesmerising.

Across the ditch

Have you ever had one of those it’s now or never moments? Mine hit May 2012. If we don’t make a move now we might never!

We decided to move from our safe haven Whangarei, New Zealand to sunny Queensland, Australia. But where in Queensland? Our then 14 year old daughter Courtney started a Google Earth search. "What about Tweed Heads?" "What about Noosa?" "What about Townsville?" My ears pricked up when I heard Townsville, “my cousin Melissa lives in Townsville. I have no idea where that is but let’s give her a call!” I said excitedly.
