Growing up in a coastal town and spending my holidays on my parents boat you would think I would know more about tides. I wasn't interested back then and took it for granted that the tides came in and out.
Our boat is moored at Breakwater Marina, Townsville on a floating pier. The ramp onto our pier is constantly changing from steep to flat and everything in between. I knew that tides were due to do with the gravitational pull of the moon but I was curious to find out more.
