Welcome aboard Notorious!

Notorious

"Ahoy me hearties!" What a privilege it was to be welcomed aboard Notorious, a magnificent, full sized replica of a 15th century Spanish or Portuguese Caravel.

Launched in Victoria, Australia on 7th February 2011 after owner Graeme Wylie spent eleven tireless years researching, designing and constructing her.  Notorious was built entirely from reclaimed Monterey Cypress timber, 300tons saved from the bonfires of south-west Victorian farms.

This impressive boat would not be out of place on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean. The authentic touches on display throughout, including wooden treasures boxes, barrels and even an open fire place successfully hide some modern conveniences such as GPS navigation and diesel engine.

Attention to detail makes for an intriguing tour on board.

The wood work on Notorious is extraordinary!

Open fireplace on board!

As steering wheels hadn't been invented during the period of the Caravel she is steered by an upright tiller extension called a whipstaff. Graeme and his wife Felicite have travelled thousands of nautical miles up and down the East Coast of Australia, making their boat available for the public to enjoy her whilst docked in various ports and boat shows.

Notorious is currently berthed at Breakwater Marina, Townsville and is open for public viewing daily from Saturday 16th September - Sunday 24th September, 10am - 4pm.

Dining table fit for a feast!

Great spot for a nap, complete with a sea breeze!
