Forty five minutes north of Townsville, Little Crystal Creek is a must see destination. Part of the Paluma Range National Park, Little Crystal Creek's cascading waterfalls and enchanting, historic stone arch bridge built in the 1930's makes for a magical setting. Six kilometres high up in the mountains you can escape the humid, tropical heat and enjoy a picnic and refreshing swim in the crystal clear swimming holes.
October to May is stinger season in Far North Queensland, so avoid the ocean and head to Big Crystal Creek's Paradise Waterhole. Located downstream from Little Crystal Creek it is the largest of the freshwater swimming holes. Paradise Waterhole is surrounded by large rock formations, ideal for relaxing on and soaking up the sun or jumping off into the cool, clear waters for an invigorating swim.
Little Crystal and Big Crystal Creek have wheelchair accessible picnic areas and toilets.
Follow the road two kilometres upstream from Big Crystal Creek to the designated car parking area and a short walk to nature's own water park. The natural slides cut in and formed on top of smooth boulders provide hours of free entertainment.
