Huntingfield Bay - Eastern end
Huntingfield Bay, located on the northern side of Maggie Island is one of the five golden sand beaches that makes up Five Beach Bay.
Beautiful Huntingfield Bay
We had heard on the eastern end of the beach was a cascading waterfall with a cool, refreshing swimming hole. A couple of months earlier we tried our luck at discovering the waterfall but as Townsville had been through a very dry wet season we had no luck. The waterfall was bone dry.
Finally some rain fell, Townsville has recorded its wettest May in years. The sun came out, wind died down and the sea flat calm, so we took the opportunity to cruise round to Huntingfield Bay and see if the waterfall was running.
We could hear it before we could see it, there was running water! Jumping from rock to rock we made our way up the waterfall until in front of our eyes was the prize! A clear, refreshing swimming hole with a view to die for!
The infinity pool
The water cool & crisp took our breath away. A few minutes later, relaxing in the pool was delightful. From this new vantage point on my back the swimming hole gave the illusion of an infinity pool surround by lush, green tropical bush, just paradise!
The day ended with a stroll along the golden sand beach, relaxing under a shady palm tree and a water fight in the ocean, a great way to finish an awesome, autumn day in Townsville.
