Tent with a view! - Rock camping Magnetic Island

Stunning view from our tent

I want to share a memory of an island camping adventure we went on before we moved onto our boat Too Easy. We used to love launching our Allycraft 535 and zooming off for a weekend of fun on the water.

My husband Warwick had his eyes set on a flat rock on the north side of Magnetic Island to camp. Our tent doesn't need pegs allowing us to find new and interesting locations to pitch it, in this case on a rock with a spectacular view out to sea.

As there was no direct beach access, getting gear off the boat was challenging but worth the effort!

Campsite access proved to be challenging!

But worth the effort!

There was not another person in sight and a vast seascape stretched out before us. We found a small haven below our camping site and turned it into a dreamy sanctuary to enjoy the late afternoon and evening.

After dinner was cooked and marshmallows toasted we settled in for the night, watched the stunning sunset and listened to the gentle sea lapping on the rocks below.

Beautiful sunset lights up the Coral Sea
