Seas the day! Relax & enjoy a picnic at Picnic Bay!

Picnic Bay Jetty

The perfect place for a picnic? Picnic Bay of course! Just another one of Magnetic Island's pristine beaches with dazzling views over the turquoise waters of Cleveland Bay.

There is a lot to see and do at Picnic Bay; here are some of my favourites:

Take a leisurely stroll down the historic jetty, simply enjoy the views or throw your line in and see if the fish are biting. Quick fact - Passenger ferry service to Magnetic Island ceased at Picnic Bay Jetty in September 2003 and relocated to Nelly Bay.

If you want to feel on top of the world, hit the Hawkings Point walking track and be rewarded with stunning views over Maggie Island, Cape Cleveland and back to Townsville.

Take a dip in the balmy, tropical waters of Picnic Bay. The beach is patrolled and stinger enclosure erected during stinger season (November - May).

Relax on the palm lined beach or in the tranquil setting of the esplanade. There is a number of picnic tables available and many a shady tree to throw down your picnic rug, have a bite to eat and enjoy a book.

If you need a coldie or ice cream to cool you down, the Picnic Bay Hotel & R&R Bar and Restaurant has you covered, located only a few steps from the beach in the Picnic Bay Mall.

So next time you want to escape and get away for the day, pack a picnic, jump on a ferry and head to Picnic Bay. You won't be disappointed!
