Castle Hill - view from Ross Creek
The iconic Castle Hill stands tall and proud smack bang in the middle of Townsville City. Set against a backdrop of striking blue skies, the isolated pink granite monolith highlights Townsville's skyline.
For those of you who don't know what a Monolith is (I had to have a peek in the dictionary) - A single block of stone or rock of considerable size.
With spectacular 360 degree views, Castle Hill is a must see city landmark for anyone visiting this tropical North Queensland metropolis.
It was these views from Castle Hill that made it a perfect spot to establish an observation bunker in WWII, which still stands today.

Thousands of locals take on the epic hill for their daily fitness fix! In this tropical heat I prefer the car! I knew Castle Hill had the popular "Goat Track" walking track but I didn't realise there is a number of other tracks to choose from: https://thegotownsville.com.au/castle-hill/
Castle Hill Saint
Another feature of Castle Hill is the contrasting white Saint painted against the red, raw rock canvas. If you are intrigued to find out the story behind the infamous Saint symbol on Castle Hill, watch this short video clip straight from the horses mouth!
