Tropical Oasis - Queens Gardens Townsville

I absolutely love the delicate and bright hibiscus flower

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Townsville’s iconic Castle Hill, Queens Garden tropical oasis sprawls over 4 hectares of land. Queens Gardens is one of four botanic gardens you can visit in Townsville.

Queens Gardens is Townsville’s oldest botanical garden, established in 1870 as a trial garden for European settlers.  The garden has been lovingly nurtured over the years so the public can continue to enjoy the tropical colonial garden of that era.

It offers visitors a cool respite from the tropical climate of Townsville in the shade of some impressive, shady trees.  Whether you are relaxing, enjoying a picnic or exploring these magnificent gardens there is something to delight everyone.

You will also find a few surprises throughout the garden including the pathway through the stunning rainforest, which features an array of tropical flora.

The aviaries are a hit with cheeky, talking parrots and other bird life.  Keep an eye out for some giant creepy crawlies!
